Lauren Conrad: I'm Afraid Of Fashion Failure

http://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Lauren+Conrad+Collection+MBFW+09+Runway+kqu1jiumJeWl.jpgLauren Conrad admits that she is always afraid of failure and there's been many, many times where she questions herself about the clothing line she's putting out.

Lauren has a right to be because of bad publicity her first Lauren Conrad Collection received for bad designs and overpricing.

Lauren attributes this to the fact that she did not always have control over the collection because someone else was financing it.

Lauren learned real quick that if you're not the boss, you always have to meet in the middle.

The end result was New York Times called her first collection sub-Old Navy.

So now, Lauren Conrad has invested a large amount of her own capital just to have full creative control and ensure that her new collection is of higher quality and success.

With this, Lauren is designing very chic, clean pieces that have good fit and good fabrics sold at upscale boutiques ranging from $90 to $390.

LC's Designs Clothes For Every Shape, Wallet Size

Lauren Conrad's always had amazing style, so we were bummed when she announced back in March that she'd be putting her chic-yet-pricey line (the Lauren Conrad Collection) on hiatus. But while we were mourning the loss of the LC Collection (psst, any extras, send 'em our way!), Lauren was churning out her latest project: an affordable new line of jeans and blouses for Kohl's department store!

The Hillzie's latest round of designs (coming atcha this fall) will be a recession-friendly vershe of her laid-back California styles. And this time, she's looking to please everyone, no matter what your budget -- or body type.

So what's Conrad's advice to all you would-be fashionistas? "It's all about finding silhouettes that highlight the best parts of your figure," LC told Shape magazine. And, of course, knowing how to dress for less. Natch, Lauren's ready to help out on both counts -- her new Kohl's line hits shelves this October.

Celebrity Business Bomb: Lauren Conrad

When your name is J-Lo or Jay-Z, people pay attention. But star power isn't enough to ensure a thriving business, as plenty of wannabe celebrity entrepreneurs--from the worlds of food to fashion--have learned the hard way.

When it comes to making payroll and appeasing investors, famous people flop like the rest of us. "Celebrities are coming in with a leg up, but it doesn't make the back end any easier," says Allen Adamson, managing director of Landor, a Manhattan-based brand-consulting firm.

On the fashion scrap heap is Lauren Conrad, star of MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and later, The Hills. Her eponymous collection--launched in 2007 with financial backing from MTV and Tangerine Promotions--included flirty, casual dresses, many priced north of $100. The masses yawned. Earlier this year, Conrad bagged plans for a spring/summer line, citing the current "economic climate."

Lauren Conrad and her off-camera life

Now that Lauren Conrad's done her book tour, and doesn't plan on doing any filming for The Hills in the near future, Lauren's taking some well-deserved time off and just enjoying life. So far, Lauren's spending more time with her boyfriend Kyle Howard. Whether it's a pool party, or going to the club, the former MTV starlet's determined to spend more time with her boyfriend than ever before.

Lauren loves not having cameras follow her every move, or have producers plan her days out for her. The only thing Lauren has to contend with now is the paparazzi, still getting priceless pictures of her. Also off-camera, Lauren's working on the first-draft for the second installment of her new LA Candy teen novel, and working on developing it into a TV series. As far as fashion goes, Lauren Conrad is getting ready to launch her new line at Kohl's, coming in October. Along with Kohl's, Lauren desires to resurrect her original Lauren Conrad Collection.
